Four men convicted of conspiracy in the 2021 assassination of Haiti's president

A Miami federal jury convicted Arcangel Pretel Ortiz, Antonio Intriago, Walter Veintemilla and James Solages of conspiring to kill or kidnap Haiti's elected leader, providing material support, and violating the U.S. Neutrality Act. Prosecutors argued during the nine-week trial that the men assembled two dozen former Colombian soldiers and supplied money, guns, ammunition and tactical vests. All four face life in prison. Martine Moïse was the trial's first witness.
